Violet’s Victory is an autobiographical picture book about a young girl with lavender hair, who longs to win a track and field race, despite her need to utilize forearm crutches. She discovers a purple handcycle, and trains diligently each day. With perseverance, a dream and her new-found adaptive equipment, will Violet accomplish her victory?
About the Author
As part of our Building Bridges Week celebration, Valerie Goldstein, author of Violet’s Victory is returning to Murray Avenue School. Valerie is a writer, social worker, wife, and mother of three children. In the year 2000, Valerie was a passenger in a motor vehicle accident, leaving her an incomplete quadriplegic. On Wednesday, October 16, Valerie will meet our students and share her book, Violet’s Victory. Valerie will talk about adaptive equipment and explain that even though some people may do things differently, they enjoy the same things but in a different way. Families have the opportunity to purchase an autographed copy of Valerie’s book. Orders will be accepted through Tuesday 10/15, and Valerie will bring the books to Murray on the day of her assembly.
