Welcome to the Murray Musical 2026
The Murray PTA is thrilled to offer students in grades 3-5 an opportunity to participate in this year’s Murray Musical, MADAGASCAR - A Musical Adventure Jr.! Take a journey out of the zoo and onto the stage with your favorite crack-a-lackin’ friends from the blockbuster DreamWorks film.
Join Alex the Lion, Marty the Zebra, Melman the Giraffe, Gloria the Hippo and, of course, those hilarious, plotting penguins as they bound onto the stage in the musical adventure of a lifetime. Based on the smash animated motion picture, Madagascar - A Musical Adventure JR. follows all of your favorite friends as they escape from their home in New York’s Central Park Zoo and find themselves on an unexpected journey to the madcap world of King Julien’s Madagascar. Filled with outlandish characters, adventure galore and an upbeat score, Madagascar JR. will leave audiences with no choice but to “Move it, Move it!”
No prior acting experience is necessary. Our goal is to create an environment where every student can succeed and be a part of a great performance.
GRADES
Students in grades 3-5 are eligible to participate. All 3rd grade participants will be part of the ensemble (no individual roles).
COST
Grades 4 and 5 = $195 + credit card fees
Grade 3 = $175 + credit card fees

Registration fee does not include tickets to performances.
LOCATION: Casting Day, Read-Through, Rehearsals and Performances will be held in the Murray Auditorium.
ATTENDANCE: Students are expected to attend ALL scheduled rehearsals – this is of paramount importance given the condensed rehearsal schedule!
VOLUNTEERS: The musical is dependent upon the support of parent volunteers. Please remember to volunteer for a shift (or two or three) of rehearsals.

Important Dates
REGISTRATION: Wednesday, November 5th at 8pm - Closes Sunday, November 9th at 8pm
***Important Update: This year’s musical will have ONE CAST. Therefore, space is limited (even more so than in years past). 25 kids for each of 4th grade and 5th grade; 40 kids for 3rd grade. Waitlist Available.*** REGISTER HERE
CASTING DAY (4th & 5th Graders only): Thursday, November 20st – 3:30pm - 6:00pm ET – IN PERSON AT MURRAY – AUDITORIUM/GAME ROOM. Children will be asked to register for a specified time slot during the afternoon. Auditions will be closed, but children will be expected to wait outside the Auditorium until their name/time is called. Sandbox would like to hear each 4th and 5th grade child to find the best part for person.
Note: 3rd graders are automatically part of the ensemble and do not have to participate in Casting Day.
